Pop Idol star Darius Danesh died at the age of 41, his family announced on August 16, five days after the singer was found in his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota.
The rural town is home to the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, a hospital ranked as the best in the US. The centre has treated the likes of Muhammad Ali, Johnny Cash, and former American presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.
Fans have been left wondering why the Pop Idol star was found dead in a quiet city famed for its medical treatment. The singer had been living in LA just months earlier.
No cause of death has been given as police continue their investigation.
On Thursday, August 11, Rochester Police Department responded to a call at the Berkman Apartments located just across the road from the Mayo Clinic hospital. Darius was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead.
Fans of the Scots singer have questioned why Darius was staying in a small town an hour and half from Minneapolis, the major city in Minnesota, as his life in America had been based in California.
Police are continuing an "open investigation". In a statement, Darius' family said local police confirmed "no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances" and did not discuss the Glasgow-born star's connection to Rochester.
The town is best known as the home of the Mayo Clinic - a world-class medical centre once dubbed the "clinic in the cornfield". Set in the southern Minnesota frontier, the hospital was founded as a medical practice by Salford-born doctor William Worrall Mayo in 1964.
More than 150 years later, the organisation has expanded to locations in Arizona, Florida, London, and Abu Dhabi. However, its Rochester headquarters is its largest location - and one of the world's best
