Cynthia Erivo Reveals What an Oscar Nomination Would Mean to Her (Exclusive)

By this point in awards season, top-billed creators and performers behind Oscar-nominated films have received more than their share of press and advertising coverage. Others involved in the lauded films, particularly those on support staff, tend to go less celebrated."Assistants Behind the Oscars," a new featurette released by Young Entertainment Activists (YEA) on Friday morning, spotlights one of these less-applauded groups.

Harriet Frank Jr., the two-time Oscar nominee forHudandNorma Raewho partnered with her husband, the late Irving Ravetch, to form one of the great screenwriting teams in Hollywood history, has died. She was 96.Frank died Tuesday at her home in Los Angeles, her nephew, Michael Frank, told The New York Times.Frank and Ravetch worked on 17 features together, including eight directed by Martin Ritt over a 32-year span and three that were adapted from William Faulkner novels.

The awards season is upon us and some actors are shining brighter than the others. One of them is actress Laura Dern, who is on a  winning streak for her performance in Marriage Story. The Noah Baumbach directorial has bagged a nomination in the Best Picture category in every award show so far and even in various other categories. The talented cast of the film  includes Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, Laura Dern and Ray Liotta among others. 

The creator of Netflix comedy Dear White People has said he is not surprised by a lack of diversity in recent Oscar nominations.

And the performers for the 2020 Oscars are: Cynthia Erivo, Elton John, Idina Menzel, Chrissy Metz and Randy Newman.

Cynthia Erivo’s could soon become the youngest EGOT (Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscar and Tony Award) winner in history after landing two nominations at the 92nd Academy Awards on Monday (January 13, 2020).

Cynthia Erivo is one step closer to becoming an EGOT winner.The actress and singer is nominated for best actress for her portrayal as Harriet Tubman in Harriet and best original song for co-writing and performing the film's number "Stand Up," at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards.If Erivo wins one of the categories, she would become the 16thperson to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award.
