Fair City curler Robin Brydone will enter an upcoming home event close to his heart in fine form after achieving a milestone moment in Canada.
Brydone is reflecting on a very productive performance with Team Whyte - whose line-up includes fellow local Duncan McFadzean as well as Ross Whyte and Euan Kyle - at the WFG Masters in Saskatoon.
The Scottish quartet worked their way to the final of the Grand Slam event before being edged out 3-2 by Italians Team Retornaz.
Now attention will turn to the much-anticipated Mercure City of Perth Masters, which is set to welcome a high-profile field of teams to the Dewars Centre from January 4-7.
“Reaching a Grand Slam final is our biggest achievement as a team so far,” Brydone said of the team’s success across the Atlantic.
“For me personally, they are the toughest events to play in with every game against one of the best teams in the world. To finish in the top two of one of these events is huge for us.
“The final was a close affair against the Italian boys. We played well but missed a couple of chances early in the game to get a force out of them, which proved to be the difference.
“They started the game with hammer and we never managed to get that off them. At this level the margins are small and you need to take any opportunity you get.”
Ranked within the top 10 in the world rankings, Team Whyte will be determined to continue form at the always-popular Perth Masters.
Brydone was quick to hail the quality of tournament venue Dewars Centre - a facility which has had its future placed in doubt in recent times.
“We are on a great roll at the moment, we are having a great season and would love to continue this into the new year starting with the Perth Masters,” Brydone told the PA this week.
