Continuing its recent nominations rout at the Golden Globes and SAG nominations last week, Netflix starts this week in the same mode scoring 46 noms in the Critics Choice Awards, with David Fincher’s Mank landing in an impressive 12 categories to lead the field. The $2.5 million indie about a late-night debate between a young couple got made because writer/director Sam Levinson answered Zendaya’s call to write a contained drama that might keep them and their Euphoria crew employed after the HBO drama was shuttered days before shooting a new season.
