Cristiano Ronaldo threw his coat to the floor in frustration after being substituted in the second half of Manchester United's clash with Brentford on Wednesday evening.
The Portuguese forward — who returned to the starting line-up after missing the back-to-back showdowns with Aston Villa through a hip problem — was taken off with 71 minutes on the clock and replaced by Harry Maguire.
United were two goals to the good at the time, following quick-fire strikes from Anthony Elanga and Mason Greenwood, and Ralf Rangnick made the decision to take Ronaldo off, despite his contribution to Greenwood's goal just past the hour mark.
After walking past Rangnick, Ronaldo stood with his hands on his hips as his number went up on the fourth official's board.
He was handed his tracksuit coat by a backroom staff member and threw it to the floor, clearly angry with the German's decision to take him off with just under 20 minutes remaining.
As well as throwing his coat to the floor, Ronaldo was also spotted muttering to those in front of him and next to him on the bench, clearly unhappy with the decision.
At the time of Ronaldo being taken off, Marcus Rashford also entered the fray, replacing Greenwood, and he netted United's third with 77 minutes on the clock.
While Rashford and his team-mates celebrated his first Premier League goal since the 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in October, Rangnick was spotted having a quiet word with Ronaldo who had put his coat on by that stage, clearly explaining his decision to take him off.
Rangnick, too, also tapped the Portugal captain on the leg, suggesting that he was trying to cheer him up and justify his decision to take him off.
