Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself in the middle of a controversy.
Police are currently investigating an incident that took place on Saturday (April 10) when the 37-year-old soccer superstar knocked a phone out of a young fan’s hand after losing a game.

In a video shared on Twitter, a visibly upset and injured Cristiano was leaving the field and heading to the locker room when a young fan stuck his phone and Cristiano smacked out it out of the fan’s hand, smashing it on the ground.
Cristiano‘s team Manchester United lost the game to Everton, 1-0.
“As players were leaving the pitch at 2:30 p.m., it was reported that a boy was assaulted by one of the away team as they left the pitch,” Merseyside Police said in a statement shared with ESPN. “Inquiries are under way and officers are currently working with Everton Football Club to review CCTV (video) footage and are carrying out extensive witness enquiries to establish if an offence has taken place.”
Later that day, Cristiano took to Instagram to apologize for his behavior and to the young fan.
“It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing,” Cristiano wrote. “Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.”
He continued, “I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.
