Country music veteran John Prine in “critical” condition after “sudden onset” of coronavirus

LOS ANGELES –– Singer-songwriter John Prine, who received a Grammy lifetime achievement award this year, is in critical condition with symptoms of coronavirus, his family relayed via his Twitter account Sunday.

Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Angel Olsen, Margo Price, Jessie Reyez, Finneas, the Secret Sisters, Soccer Mommy, Norah Jones, Justin Moore, Jeff Tweedy and Kim Petras are some of the artists performing this weekend.

John Prine’s wife and manager, Fiona Whelan Prine, is speaking out following the death of one of country and folk music’s most influential artists.

American folk and country singer, John Prine, passed away at the age of 73 due to complications from Coronavirus. He was hospitalised after showing sudden COVID 19 symptoms on March 26 and was kept in the intensive care for 13 days before he succumbed to the virus on April 7. John’s family confirmed the tragic news to Variety. John was born and raised on the outskirts of Chicago. 1996, he was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
