Big Thief have shared a new collection of demos. Demos Vol. 1 - Topanga Canyon, CA - Feb 2018 features five songs, including three that have never been released and two that appeared on Adrianne Lenker’s 2018 album abysskiss. The sessions eventually led to the albums U.F.O.F. and Two Hands.

Roger Waters is joining the legions of musicians paying tribute to late Americana legend John Prine.On Saturday (April 11), Waters shared a video of himself performing an acoustic rendition of "Paradise," which appeared on Prince's 1971 self-titled debut album.“My friend John Prine died. This is his song, ‘Paradise,'” Waters captioned the YouTube video.

On Tuesday, influential country folk singer John Prine died at 73 years old while hospitalized at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He passed away from complications due to coronavirus, his family confirmed to Rolling Stone.

American folk and country singer, John Prine, passed away at the age of 73 due to complications from Coronavirus. He was hospitalised after showing sudden COVID 19 symptoms on March 26 and was kept in the intensive care for 13 days before he succumbed to the virus on April 7. John’s family confirmed the tragic news to Variety. John was born and raised on the outskirts of Chicago. 1996, he was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. 

LOS ANGELES — Grammy-winning singer John Prine, who wrote his early songs in his head while delivering mail and later emerged from Chicago’s folk revival scene in the 1970s to become one of the most influential songwriters of his generation, died on Tuesday, the New York Times reported. He was 73.

Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker has shared a cover of John Prine’s “Summer’s End,” a track off the musician’s 2018 record The Tree of Forgiveness. Prine was recently hospitalized for COVID-19 symptoms and his family described his condition as “critical.” In the caption of her video, Lenker wrote, “I’m beyond grateful for the gift of his songs, sending love to his whole family.” Watch below.

John Prine is in stable condition after being placed on a ventilator while being treated for COVID-19-type symptoms, his wife, Fiona Whelan Prine said Monday.
