Coronation Street legend Johnny Briggs reportedly left his drug-addicted daughter out of his £550,000 will, which is said to have left her utterly "stunned".
The much-loved actor, who passed away in February 2021 at the age of 85, left behind a sum of £550,000, according to reports. Most of his fortune came from his iconic performance on the Corrie show where he ruled hearts as Mike Baldwin.
This hefty amount was split amongst five of his six offspring - Jennifer, Stephanie, Michael, Anthony, and Mark. His daughter Karen Briggs, aged 55, is thought not to have been included due to her supposed struggles with heroin addiction.
Word has it that their relationship soured after allegations surfaced that 55 year old Karen was responsible for supplying Class A drugs to her own 14 year old daughter. The situation worsened when both Karen and Johnny's granddaughter, Emma Beach, presently aged 37, were jailed for stealing bikes to finance their drug addictions. Despite these controversies, Karen reassured The Sun that she is now clean and had reconciled with her father prior to his death.
Johnny Briggs etched his name in history through Coronation Street, playing the charming but often troubling businessman Mike Baldwin from 1976 till 2006. Mike Baldwin was infamous for his flirtatious eye, his feelings for Alma (played by Amanda Barrie), and being a part of the traumatic love triangle involving Deidre (portrayed by the late Anne Kirkbride) and Ken Barlow (Billy Roache). In a tear-jerking plot, the character tragically fell victim to Alzheimer's disease in 2006.

Frank Rizzo To the list of larger-than-life, survivalist women in musical theater, add Tamara de Lempicka — but with an asterisk. The name of the Polish-born portraitist who died in 1980 might not be familiar to many, but you might recognize her paintings. Lempicka’s Art Deco-era images depict lustrous women with self-assured gazes, endowing “the new woman” with a mixture of luminosity and strength that’s at the heart of “Lempicka,” a long-in-development but still uneven musical which finally made it to Broadway following runs at Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2018 and La Jolla Playhouse last year.
