Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has shared a beautiful new tattoo in tribute of her ‘wonderful’ dad, following his incurable prostate cancer diagnosis. The actress and presenter took to Instagram to share her dad’s sweet reaction to her new ink, as well as posting a picture of the tattoo. The Michelle Connor star opted for an ice cream cone on her forearm, explaining in the caption of the video why it is so poignant.
‘So…. . I’ve had a new tattoo for my dad!!! Since his incurable cancer diagnosis he has been obsessed with ice cream! He literally has one every day! So I got an ice cream on the inside of my fore arm for him to remind me of my wonderful dad, Every time I look at it!! He’s the best ever! Love you dad,’ she wrote.
In the video, Kym explains that she decided to treat herself for her birthday and give herself something that would remind her of her dad. As she reveals the sweet tribute, dad Dave bursts into laughter, before giving his daughter a hug and commenting that his ice creams ‘aren’t as good as them’. Kym revealed that Dave had been diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer in 2021 during a segment on BBC’s Morning Live, in the hopes of encouraging other people to get checked.
Kym’s friends and followers rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on the sweet video, with Corrie co-star Ryan Thomas leaving three red love hearts. Former Hear’Say band member and Emmerdale star Suzanne Shaw also commented, saying ‘That’s so lovely’, while Corrie star Hayley Tamaddon wrote, ‘Love this. Please give him a hug from me’.
Fans were also quick to share their love, with one saying: ‘Oh this is everything. ’‘Love this,’ another added. Since leaving Coronation Street, Kym has remained incredibly busy.
