Coronation Street’s writers and stars deserve a round of applause for their trojan effort to keep us all entertained with everything that’s been going on.
While other shows have wound up existing plotlines early, to allow for the restrictions, the Corrie crew set about writing new scripts and scenes and filming entire episodes so that the show could stay on the air for as long as possible.

Coronation Street bosses were quick to act before the coronavirus lockdown caused the set to close, by rewriting storylines and filming last minute scenes. Lindsay Williams, a story producer on the ITV soap, said that just before filming was halted to reduce the spread of COVID-19, writers who normally plan out storylines six months in advance had to work fast to change scripts and the crew and cast were all hands on deck for filming.
