Coronation Street couple 'torn apart' by new arrival Cassie Plummer

Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver is taking a break from the ITV soap to star in a hit musical. The 60 year old actress, who has played much-loved Cobbles character Eileen Grimshaw since 2000, has landed a role in the stage version of popular film Sister Act.

Gareth Pierce has played the long running character, Todd Grimshaw in Coronation Street since 2020, and since joining the cast, has seen himself at the centre of multiple storylines. Most recently, the son of veteran character, Eileen Grimshaw, has had strained relations with her partner, George Shuttleworth after the two used to work together at Shuttleworth's funeral parlour. Viewers will know that the tensions were caused by Todd's ambitions as a funeral director - he was nominated for the Young Funeral Director of the Year award - and believed he deserved a pay rise.
