‘Community’: Netflix & Hulu To Share Streaming Rights To Sony Pictures TV Comedy Series

The coronavirus pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on the way we live, and all of Hollywood has pretty much been put on pause as a result of social distancing efforts across the globe. In addition to shutting down film and TV productions worldwide, the increase in people self-quarantining at home and binge-watching content has led to increasingly taxing strain on internet infrastructures in some countries.

ESPN Films and Netflix will debut their long-form documentary about basketball great Michael Jordan, The Last Dance, on April 19, earlier than anticipated after the loss of live sports has left audiences craving new sports-themed content. The 10-part doc series, to run through to May 17 on ESPN, was originally set for early summer.

Sony Corp.’s Sony Pictures Networks India will remain the home of sports entertainment powerhouse World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) under a five-year deal extension unveiled Tuesday with an expanded broadcast agreement. Financial terms of the deal, which covers WWE’s weekly programming and localized content in India and the Indian subcontinent, weren’t disclosed.

Sony Pictures has reportedly become the first major studio to move most of its big summer 2020 tentpole releases to 2021. The news comes from trade bible Variety who reveal that the likes of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, comic book movie Morbius with Jared Leto, and Peter Rabbit 2 have all been relocated slots next year, at least in the U.S., all due to the fact that most cinemas are still closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Michael Bay and his Bay Films banner have signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures for both film and television,The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Bay made his feature directorial debut, Bad Boys (1995), with the studio, where he is now set to helm his next action feature, Black Five.

With the L.A. Screenings among the near-countless industry events to have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sony Pictures Television has joined a growing number of companies and festivals to go down the online route in order to keep wheels moving.

Sony Pictures Television will replace their traditional L.A. Screenings with a virtual and on-demand experience in May, the company announced Friday.

To mark Mother’s Day the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released a number of never-before-seen photographs of the family.The beautiful set were shared on the Kensington Palace Instagram account and feature the family together looking happy, as well as a couple of throwbacks too. Netflix has agreed to temporarily reduce video quality of its streaming service in Europe, reducing bit rates for the next 30 days at the behest of the European Union in order to ease the load on internet networks in the region.

An office building on Los Angeles’ Sony Pictures lot has been shut down after the studio was informed that a recent visitor tested positive for coronavirus, multiple insiders told Variety exclusively.
