A comedian who appeared on a Channel 4 comedy panel show has been sentenced after being found with thousands of indecent images of children. Christopher Thomas Binns avoided prison after he was handed a suspended sentence.
The 53-year-old performs as hospital DJ Ivan Brackenbury and has appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. He pleaded guilty last November to five counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing a prohibited image.
He was sentenced at Derby Crown Court today (Thursday, August 17) by Judge Shaun Smith KC. Binns was handed a 10-month sentence suspended for 15 months, after the judge decided he posed no risk to the public.

Lauren Fisher, prosecuting, said 104 category A indecent images – the most serious – were found, along with 411 in category B and 34,946 in category C. Another three prohibited images were found along with one category B and one C moving image. Some of the images may have been duplicates.
The court heard how the images were downloaded between March 26 and November 21, 2020. Ms Fisher said: "Between October 14 and 15, 2020 the National Crime Agency (NCA) received information that the user of [the defendant’s email] had uploaded multiple category C indecent images of children."
Binns was arrested at his address at Bole Hill, Calow, in Derbyshire. A total of 39 devices were seized including a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and an iPad. The investigation also found that a third party of Mr Binns's partner had been asked to sell several devices for Mr Binns. They included two hard drives that included thousands of accessible and inaccessible images, including 25,000 inaccessible
