In a recent 8-K, the nation’s third largest chain Cinemark specified that their layoffs in the wake of closing theaters on March 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic count 17,500 domestic hourly theater employees. In addition, 50% of their Plano, TX headquarter employees were furloughed at 20% of their salary (with full benefits), with the reduction of remaining employees’ salaries at 50%.
