Shows Like ‘Maisel,’ ‘And Just Like That’ Push New York City Production Into Post-COVID Expansion

Gregg Goldstein No one ever said filming in New York City was easy, especially during a pandemic. Just ask the showrunners behind Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” or the producer of Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming HBO Max limited series “Full Circle.” “We had an incident yesterday on our set in Queens: a crazy person grabbed a grip by the hair and was trying to take a swing at her. Thank God she got away and he ran off,” “Circle” producer Jonathan Filley said in late September. “And we just had a car rear-end another car, which ran into our electric truck. … There’s a lot of mental instability in the city these days.” This wouldn’t be a shock to “Maisel” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino or her fellow showrunner, Daniel Palladino. who had a hazardous Washington Square Park shoot in spring 2021. “There had been a lot of anti-police protests, and weirdos were encroaching on our set,” Palladino says. “There were no police, and we finally bolted. We had our own security, but there was a group of film students who were keeping an eye on us.” (“And our purses!” Sherman-Palladino chimes in.) “They were chasing some people off, and we realized our de facto security was a bunch of 18-year-olds at NYU.”

‘Jeopardy!’ producer slams critics who don’t like new rule changes

new rule change he’s considering. Davies appeared on the “Inside Jeopardy!” podcast last month where he revealed that he’s thinking of giving contestants cash for answering all the clues in one category correctly. He explained that the cash bonus would be a completely separate, extra reward. It would also not change who wins the game. The game show boss — who took the helm of the long-running series in 2021 — clapped back at the haters on Tuesday.“A lot of response … [over] the not yet reigned-in idea that I floated,” he told the Sun.“It doesn’t need to be reigned-in yet because it hasn’t been enacted in any way,” he said.

Ringo Starr Tests Positive for COVID, Cancels Six Tour Dates

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Although the weekend’s announcements postponing Ringo Starr’s two recent tour dates stressed that the 82-year-old singer-drummer did not have COVID, the former Beatle has since tested positive. The next six dates of the legendary former Beatle’s tour with his All Starr Band will be canceled. Rather than dishonesty or inaccuracy, it seems likely that, as with countless other people in recent months, Starr showed symptoms of the disease before testing positive. “It has been confirmed today that Ringo has Covid and the tour will be on hold while Ringo recuperates,” the announcement reads. “Ringo hopes to resume as soon as possible and is recovering at home. As always, he and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them back out on the road soon. We will keep fans updated with any further news or changes.”
