EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Gillespie (Julie and the Phantoms) and Sterling Beaumon (Your Lucky Day) are attached to star in Shattered Ice, a New England hockey drama from director Alex Ranarivelo.
Written by Jake Misken, the film finds the high schooler Mankus (Gillespie) more lost than ever following the unexpected loss of his best friend Danny (Beaumon) to suicide, as his alcohol consumption intensifies and his mental health declines.
Set to round out the cast of Shattered Ice are Oscar Wahlberg (Manchester by the Sea), Pat Shea (Behind the Cage: The Real Life of a College Hockey Player), Cole Tristan Murphy (The Holdovers), and Kyla Kenedy (The Walking Dead).
Dan Sheldon, Ben Stephen, Christopher Nelson and Misken will produce, with Christopher Roberts serving as executive producer. Nehoiden Street Films is the production company.
Best known for starring in Netflix’s series Julie and the Phantoms from Dan Ceoss and David Hoge, Gillespie has most recently appeared in the Blumhouse-produced slasher Totally Killer on Prime Video. Part of the cast of the TIFF drama The Rest of Us, starring Heather Graham and Sophie Nélisse, he’s also made appearances on shows like I Am the Night and The CW’s Charmed reboot.
Most recently, Beaumon has been seen starring alongside the late Angus Cloud and more in the action thriller Your Lucky Day, released by Well Go USA. Previously, the actor has also been seen on shows like The Killing, Law & Order True Crime, S.W.A.T. and Longmire, among others.
Gillespie is repped by Vanderwerff Talent, Atlas Artists, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Meyer & Downs; Beaumon by Stride Management, CAA Hockey, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes; and Ranarivelo by Circle of Confusion.
