A Bolton based bakery is relocating ‘next door’ as it seeks to sell its pasties in ‘every part of the UK’. Carrs Pasties, based on Manchester Road, has received planning permission to convert the former G4S building at the back of its current premises on Summerfield Road into new headquarters and offices.
In documents supporting the conversion of the building, Carrs said: “We are a highly successful and growing company which requires a larger bakery and office facilities and the current bakery is required to expand to meet growing demand.”
The application said the current bakery would be relocated from 458 and 460 Manchester Road into a new central office and headquarters in the former G4S building.

The firm said that they intended to demolish 460 Manchester Road which currently houses meeting rooms and offices due to the very poor condition for the building. Those plans will be the subject of a separate planning application.
On June 10 Bolton Council approved the change of use of the building. Carrs, who started as a single shop on Halliwell Road in 1938, recently relaunched their branding.
In 2017 Carrs began a sponsorship with Bolton Wanderers FC and opened the Carrs Pasties Family Stand and in 2020 a nationwide delivery service was launched. For the rebranding the firm worked with Absolute Agency to give its look a refresh.
Matt Carr, business owner gave an indication of the firm’s expansion plans. He said: “At Carrs, our mission is to reach every part of the UK, whilst keeping Bolton at the heart of everything we do. We are a family-owned business, with dedicated long serving staff and exceptionally loyal customers.”
