Cannes’ Critics’ Week Unveils Selection of 15 Films and Shorts

Totem Films will be hosting two virtual market screening at Cannes’ online Marché du Film that kicks off on Monday.

Congolese filmmaker Dieudo Hamadi will be the special guest of the 5th edition of Doc Day.

Tim Dams Sheffield Doc/Fest, the U.K.’s leading documentary festival, has unveiled its 2020 selection, with a line-up of 115 films, including 31 world premieres.Due to coronavirus, this year’s festival is largely taking place online.

Pixar’s “Soul,” Wes Anderson’s star-packed “The French Dispatch” and Steve McQueen’s “Mangrove” and Lover’s Rock” are among the 56 movies which will receive a Cannes 2020 label as part of the festival’s eclectic Official Selection.

The selections for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival have been announced despite this year’s live event being cancelled.

The 2020 Cannes Film Festival was set to take place in May but due to the coronavirus outbreak that sadly was not meant to be. The festival was initially postponed, but following the spread of the virus was cancelled in physical form. However, the festival will live on with the movies’ set to debut at the festival were officially unveiled this evening by Thierry Frémaux, the Festival’s General Delegate.

PARIS — Director Wes Anderson’s latest outing, a debut turn behind the camera for actor Viggo Mortensen and an animated Pixar movie about jazz would have starred at this year’s canceled Cannes Film Festival, organizers said on Wednesday.

After weeks of “will they or won’t they?” the Cannes Film Festival was recently officially canceled due to COVID-19.
