Steven J. Horowitz Senior Music Writer Busta Rhymes has announced an all-star roster of executive producers including including Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and Busta himself for his upcoming album “Blockbusta,” releasing on November 24.
The rapper revealed that his 10th studio album will be released through his imprint The Conglomerate Entertainment, which is distributed by Epic/Sony. Rhymes posted a video of himself alongside his executive producer coterie, where each expresses gratitude in working with one another.
“I’m so grateful that you chose me to be a part of your legacy,” said Timbaland. Pharrell added, “You really feel illuminated.
This illumination is good because I think people are going to be able to get and feel that.” In the clip, Beatz refers to Williams as “the pharaoh”; to Timbaland as “the king”; and to himself as “the student.” Though he didn’t reveal the feature list for the album, Rhymes has already had numerous collaborations released this year, including “Beach Ball” featuring Bia, “Murda” featuring Bilal and “Luxury Life” with Coi Leroy,” the latter of which he co-produced with Beatz. “Beach Ball” is set to be included on “Blockbusta.” Rhymes last released an album in 2020 with “Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God,” a long-awaited project that featured guest appearances from Mariah Carey, Q-Tip and Kendrick Lamar.
Prior to that, he took an extended break from releasing full bodies of work, dropping “Year of the Dragon” in 2012 as a free release on Google Play. Currently, Rhymes is on an overseas trek supporting 50 Cent as part of the “Final Lap Tour.” Earlier this year, he received the lifetime achievement award at the BET Awards to honor his decades-long career and impact
