A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after three people were stabbed in a horror attack outside Bury Market.
Police rushed to the scene off Murrary Road in Bury at 12.15pm on Monday (March 11) following reports of the triple stabbing. A huge section of the town centre was cordoned off for much of the afternoon with a number of footpaths close to the Interchange and Mill Gate shopping centre shut off.
Three men were rushed to hospital following the attack with injuries that police said were not thought to be life-threatening. Two have since been discharged, GMP say.
In the early hours of Tuesday, GMP said a 17-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault. He remains in police custody for questioning.
"Greater Manchester Police are still appealing to anyone with information about this incident to make a report to police," a spokesman said.
"This includes anyone who may have relevant footage including CCTV, mobile, Ring doorbell or dashcam. You can make a report by calling 101, quoting 1338 of 11/03/2024.
"Alternatively, you can make a report anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
Officers remained stationed at the cordon throughout Monday, in which debris and items of clothing could be seen on the ground. Crime Scene Investigators later attended the scene and were seen inspecting and taking pictures of a number of items.
A witness, who has asked to remain anonymous, saw one of the victims being tended to by the emergency services on Monday afternoon. "I just walked past and saw a guy on the floor and police and the ambulance crews around him," she said. "It's bad at the moment for gangs and violence with kids."
