Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief “Band of Brothers” writer Bruce McKenna is teaming with David Broyles (“Six”) and Nick Jones Jr. (“Yasuke”) to write and produce a limited TV series “Buffalo Rangers” about the 2nd Ranger Company, the only all-Black special operations combat unit in U.S. history. They were notable for their efforts in the Korean War. The series is being produced by South Korea-based Moving Pictures Company, which has a growing English-language slate. No broadcaster or streamer has been announced. Producing alongside Broyles, Jones and McKenna are Thomas Suh (through his production company Système D Entertainment), Paul Merryman (“The Outpost”), Debra Martin Chase (“Harriet,” CBS’s “The Equalizer”) and Jariko Denman (“The Outpost”), a retired master sergeant with 15 combat deployments.

A judge dismissed a female juror accused of flirting with one of the defendants charged in an alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer over COVID-19-era lockdown measures.  Jackson County Judge Thomas Wilson announced Friday that the woman has been removed from the jury, two days after attorneys raised concerns the juror was having too much non-verbal communication with defendant Paul Bellar, the Jackson Citizen Patriot reported.

A 15-year-old girl in Detroit, Michigan, fatally stabbed her mother during an argument in front of their home, according to police. The two were in an argument wielding knives on Thursday when the victim's father drove up and witnessed the incident, Detroit Police said.The victim, 41, was rushed to the hospital by her father. The mother had suffered stab wounds to the neck and chest and would succumb to her injuries.

Legislators in Michigan are mulling a bill that would classify allowing minors to go through gender transition procedures as child abuse. The legislation, known as House Bill 6454 and introduced by Republicans on Tuesday, states that "a person is guilty of child abuse in the first degree" if a "person knowingly or intentionally consents to, obtains, or assists with a gender transition procedure for a child." In the bill, a "person" is described as the parent or guardian of a child or a licensed medical professional.

A local Fox affiliate reported on the "unexpected alliance" between conservatives and Arab Americans in standing up to public school boards in Michigan that are stocking "explicit" LGBTQ books in school libraries.  The report detailed the attendance of concerned conservative and Arab American parents at a Dearborn, Michigan public school board meeting Thursday night to protest "having LGBTQ+ books on the library’s rolls saying they’re sexually explicit." A Catholic Church in Michigan was vandalized with spray paint by three vandals last weekend. Security footage shows three vandals dressed in black approach the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing, Michigan, on foot. Tensions heated up at a school board meeting in a suburb of Detroit when parents blasted "sexually explicit" books in the school library.  Dearborn Public Schools held a meeting on Thursday to address parents’ concerns over books and curriculum. This meeting came after a tumultuous school board meeting on Monday was cut short due to a crowd of rowdy parents taking issue with how the district decides if a book is appropriate for the school library.

A Michigan teenager allegedly jumped over the retaining wall of a freeway and fell 25 to 30 feet after running out of gas in an allegedly stolen Mustang during a police chase on Wednesday evening, the Brownstown Police Department said. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and did not appear to have any life-threatening injuries.  The nearby Woodhaven Police Department originally put out an alert that three Mustang Shelby GT500s had been stolen from the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant around 7 p.m.
