BTS are “going through a rough patch right now” and, as a result, are “going on a hiatus” in order to allow the group’s members to develop as solo artists and “find our identity”. But, they promise, they will definitely “return someday even more mature”.All very interesting statements, but none of which should be taken to mean that BTS are now on hiatus or aren’t working together.

HYBE, the label behind K-pop supergroup BTS, has seen their stock price plummet after the K-pop boyband announced they would be going on a temporary break.The South Korean entertainment agency’s shares dropped as much as 28 per cent within the first hour of trading today (June 15), one day after BTS said they would be focusing on their solo careers. According to a report by Billboard, HYBE’s shares had fallen as far as ₩140 thousand per share after opening at ₩168 thousand.The company is currently headed for its lowest close on record since it went public in 2020, wiping out as much as $1.7million in market value as of writing.In light of uncertainties regarding the septet’s future, even prior to their recent announcement, HYBE has seen its stock go down by nearly 60 per cent this year so far, per The Straits Times.

BTS ARMY can release a small sigh of relief! A rep for the famed K-pop band has clarified statements about the future of the group. Amid reports that BTS is going on a «hiatus» so members can explore solo projects, a rep for the band tells ET, “To be clear, they are not on hiatus but will take time to explore some solo projects at this time and remain active in various different formats.”Announcing the news in a video posted to social media on Tuesday, BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook shared that they are taking time to grow individually and made comments about the «exhaustion» they are experiencing. «We're each going to take some time to have fun and experience lots of things,» Jungkook said. «We promise we will return someday, even more mature than we are now.» RM echoed his bandmate's sentiments, saying, «I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don't give you time to mature.
