Bruce Springsteen’s manager responds to criticism about ticket prices

Bruce Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau has released a statement following criticism about the musician’s recent ticket prices.Last week, when tickets for Springsteen’s 2023 world tour dates went on sale, fans were asked to pay up to $5000 (£4152) for some tickets. The site’s “dynamic pricing” model allows Ticketmaster to charge more for tickets when they first go on sale. The system responds to demand and so increases or decreases prices in line with what “scalpers” – a person who re-sells a ticket for profit – would sell them for, keeping the money in-house for the seller and artist. The system also sees increase with demand for certain “platinum tickets”, which are placed throughout each venue. Now, Springsteen’s manager has responded to the backlash to the prices.

Bruce Springsteen’s 2023 world tour dates went on sale, fans were asked to pay up to $5000 (£4152) for some tickets. The model allows Ticketmaster to charge more for tickets when they first go on sale. The dynamic pricing system responds to demand and so increases or decreases prices in line with what “scalpers” – a person who re-sells a ticket for profit – would sell them for, keeping the money in-house for the seller and artist. The system also sees increase with demand for certain “platinum tickets”, which are placed throughout each venue.Ticketmaster defended the model saying that only 11.2 per cent of the Springsteen tickets sold were platinum, and only 1.3 per cent were $1000 (£830) or more.

Ticketmaster Says Most Bruce Springsteen Tickets Go for Under $200, and Only 11% are Part of Controversial ‘Dynamic Pricing’ Program

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music CriticIn the wake of an ongoing furor over “dynamic pricing” for Bruce Springsteen’s tour, Ticketmaster took the unusual step Sunday afternoon of releasing some statistics about costs and percentages for the dates that went on sale last week. Downplaying the number of controversial “platinum” tickets with variable prices that reached as high as $5,000 apiece on the first day of on-sales, Ticketmaster says those represent only 11.2% of the overall tickets sold.By the ticketing service’s calculations, that left the other 88.2% of tickets sold at fixed prices that ranged from from $59.50 to $399 before added service fees.Ticketmaster further says that the average price of all tickets sold so far is $262, with 56% being sold for under $200 face value.

Wild Bruce Springsteen Ticket Prices Calm Down, but ‘Dynamic Pricing’ Storm Isn’t Over

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music CriticBruce Springsteen ticket prices seem to be cooling off a bit — although that’s relative. Fans livid over Ticketmaster selling $5K Bruce Springsteen tickets

to see the king on his 2023 US tour are ranging from $4,000 to $5,000 on Ticketmaster because of the service’s “dynamic pricing” system that allows for extreme inflation from high demand.Even nosebleeds are going for more than $1K as “platinum tickets,” which are simply considered seats sold throughout all sections of a venue, per the outlet. One Springsteen fan, @puffwoody, spotted tickets going for $1,125 for an upcoming Albany show, prompting a “f–k off !” tweet in response.“I’m rich and I think that’s f–king crazy,” podcast producer John Palumbo said in a video rant over the prices. The Post has reached out to Ticketmaster for comment.Almost a bigger slap in the face to these inflation-weakened customers is that Ticketmaster claims the dynamic method aims to “price tickets closer to their fair value,” an FAQ page reads.“I’m sure you won’t see this @springsteen but you or your management need to have a word with the abhorrent criminals running @Ticketmaster who are charging exorbitant amounts to see you in concert. Please listen to your fans, nobody can afford these ridiculous ticket prices,” posted @Danny_Biggane.“Dear kids, I just spent your inheritance on @springsteen tickets.

Bruce Springsteen Fans Boil at Ticket Prices Going as High as $4-5K, Due to Ticketmaster’s ‘Dynamic Pricing’

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music CriticBruce Springsteen fans like to think of him as tougher than the rest, not pricier than the rest. So there were inevitable eruptions of anger when fans logged on for the first day of sales for the opening shows on his 2023 arena tour and found tickets going for as as $4,000-5,000 for mid-range floor seats, and into the four-figures for other, less desirable tickets that remained.
