The Southbank Centre in London has announced a celebration of the 50th anniversary of David Bowie’s ‘Aladdin Sane’ album, with talks, performances and a two month exhibition exploring the record’s iconic artwork.“We’re honoured to pay tribute to David Bowie, who made his Southbank Centre debut in 1969”, says the venue’s Artistic Director Mark Ball. “The ‘Aladdin Sane’ album cover portrait is considered to be one of the most influential pop culture images of the past half century, and the music remains fresh and contemporary, so we wanted to recognise this major anniversary and reflect on the album and its artwork’s enduring legacy”.“It’s a work that continues to inspire today’s contemporary artists and the gender fluidity of the images still resonate deeply in queer culture in the UK and across the world”, he adds.The artwork exhibition will run from 6 Apr to 28 May, and has been curated by Chris Duffy, son of the photographer who took the distinctive lightning flash portrait, Brian Duffy.

The Doobie Brothers have just announced plans to tour all over the U.S. in 2023 as part of their ongoing ’50th Anniversary Tour’ from May through October.This time around, original members Michael McDonald, Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons and John McFee will hit venues that they missed when they first celebrated their half century together last summer.That includes huge New Jersey shows at New Brunswick’s State Theatre on July 8 and July 9 and Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center on July 11 and July 12.Michael McDonald and co.

Indian streamer SonyLIV has announced an adaptation of Agatha Christie detective novel The Sittaford Mystery, which marks director Vishal Bhardwaj’s debut on a streaming series. 

Naman Ramachandran Agatha Christie’s “The Sittaford Mystery” will be adapted as “Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley” for streamer SonyLIV by renowned Indian filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj. Set in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, northern India, the series will follow the journey of Charlie Chopra and her quest to uncover a mystery. Bhardwaj will serve as director and co-producer and co-screenwriter alongside Anjum Rajabali and Jyotsna Hariharan. The cast includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Naseeruddin Shah, Neena Gupta, Ratna Pathak Shah, Gulshan Grover, Lara Dutta, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Paoli Dam. Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures will produce with Priti Shahani’s Tusk Tale Films in association with Agatha Christie Limited. Bhardwaj’s film franchise based on the works of Christie was announced in 2020.

Pearl Jam have announced a 25th anniversary reissue package for their album ‘Yield’.The Seattle grunge icons’ fifth studio album came out in February 1998 and featured the singles ‘Do The Evolution’ and ‘Given To Fly’.To celebrate its birthday, the album will be reissued on translucent red and black vinyl via Vinyl Me, Please. It will be the first release from the company’s new audiophile-grade pressing plant in Denver, Colorado.

Daft Punk have announced a 10th anniversary expanded edition of their final album ‘Random Access Memories’.The reissue features 35 minutes of outtakes and unheard demos across nine tracks. It will be available across various formats including 3 LPs, 2 CDs, streaming platforms and additionally a spatial audio (Atmos) mix of the original album will be made available for the first time.It will be released on May 12 and can be pre-ordered here.

S Club 7 sent fans into a frenzy when they announced they were bringing it all back to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The seven-piece pop group were originally created by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller in 1998 and kept the pop charts alive until 2003 when they disbanded.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the release of iconic Canadian rap song “Northern Touch”, and the occasion will be celebrated with a one-of-a-kind pop-up event in Toronto.

Charlie Amter The surviving members of New York trio Ivy are taking a look back this year at one of their most beloved albums, “Apartment Life,” which is celebrating a 25th anniversary. The group was one of two ’90s-era indie acts to feature the late Emmy- and Grammy-winning musician Adam Schlesinger, who in addition to being a key member of both Ivy and Fountains of Wayne wrote music for the 1996 Tom Hanks vehicle “That Thing You Do!” and “Crazy Ex Girlfriend,” among others. On March 3, Bar/None Records will drop a reissue of the set, with two previously unreleased tracks, and Variety can exclusively reveal that the band will also release a Record Store Day exclusive of the demo versions of “Apartment Life” (in the same sequence as the final studio record) on Saturday, April 22; the “Apartment Life” demos will also be available on streaming services from July 21 onwards. S Club 7 being dragged out of an awkward interview with Claudia Winkleman in the early ’00s.The seven-piece pop group, who formed in 1998, announced on Monday (February 13) that they would be reuniting for a UK and Ireland arena tour this autumn to mark their 25th anniversary.“After eight years it feels amazing to announce that we’re reuniting and performing together again,” S Club 7 said in a statement.Shortly after their first split in 2003, the band participated in a farewell interview with Winkleman on the BBC Three show Liquid News.Introducing the pre-recorded segment, the broadcaster explained to viewers that S Club 7’s Jo O’Meara, Hannah Spearitt, Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh “ran into some difficulty” during the conversation.The interview then played out, with O’Meara saying it was “nice to go out on a high” following a successful period.Winkleman later asked the band to “talk cash”. Michele Amabile Angermiller Nineties pop stars S Club 7 are reuniting for a 25th anniversary tour, the group announced on social media today (Feb. 13). Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Hannah Spearritt, Bradley McIntosh, Rachel Stevens and Jo O’Meara will hit the stage for an 11-date tour of the U.K. and Ireland. Formed in 1998, the group — created by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller — signed with Polydor Records and hit the charts at No. 1 on its debut single, “Bring it All Back.” More hits followed with “S Club Party” and “Don’t Stop Movin’.” The septet starred in a successful BBC television series, for four seasons, called “Miami 7.” The youth-targeted sitcom — billed as “the Monkees for a new generation” — aired in the U.S. on Fox Family and later on ABC Family, following the group from London to Florida seeking fame, fortune and fun. The show was retitled “S Club 7 in Miami” for American audiences.
