Britain's Got Talent has revealed its wildcard for the highly-anticipated 2023 final on Sunday 4 June - and it is Tonikaku. The news was announced at the start of Sunday's show, where comedian Tonikaku appeared on stage as a surprise in the opening moments.
Tonikaku will now join fellow finalists - Musa Motha, Amy Lou, Viggo Venn, Olivia Lynes, Ghetto Kids, Travis George, Malakai Bayoh, Duo Odyssey, Cillian O'Connor and Lillianna Clifton. The winner of Britain's Got Talent gets a whopping cash prize of £250,000, as well as the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance. Fans had previously claimed that Tonikaku, who pulls a series of poses pretending to be nude while wearing pants, was "robbed" in missing out a spot in the final.
However, it appeared as though viewers had a change of heart on Sunday evening as they took to Twitter to share their opinions over the wildcard news. One person said: "Tonikaku was funny but should not have been the wildcard.
Many more deserving acts #bgt." While a different account put: "Out of all the acts they could’ve chosen as the Wildcard, they chose Tonikaku?!!!!!!! #BGT." However, another viewer wrote: "So happy #ToniKaku wild card #BGT #BGT2023 #ItsokImWearingPants." While another fan added: "Actually love that Tonikaku is the wild card! Haha #BGT." Explaining the choice for bringing Tonikaku back, judge Simon Cowell said: "Look, it was unanimous. We just had to have him, it wouldn't have been the same without him!" It's been an exciting albeit dramatic series so far after host Ant McPartlin suffered a "heavy fall" live on-air during the first semi-final on Monday night. The festivities got off to a rocky start when Ant, 47, took a dramatic tumble after sliding on the stage
