A Cheshire-based brewery has announced its sudden closure citing 'unprecedented increases’ in the cost of living, fuel prices and raw materials.
Tatton Brewery, just a stone’s throw from Tatton Park in Knutsford, is shutting after 14 years of brewing beer that was sold in venues across the North West. The family-run brewery announced on social media this afternoon (February 23) that it would be closing its doors for good next week and said remaining open was ‘no longer viable’.
In an emotional post on Facebook the team at the brewery said the business had ‘come to the end of the road’ amid soaring costs coupled with owner Gregg Sawyer wishing to take a step back due to family responsibilities.

The post read: “After 14 years of brewing, we've come to the end of the road.
With unprecedented increases in the cost of living, fuel prices, raw materials, and many other factors, coupled with Gregg wishing to take a step back from the business due to family responsibilities, it is no longer viable for us to carry on.
“With a heavy heart we're sad to announce that Tatton Brewery will cease trading on Thursday 29th February.”
The team went on to say they were ‘saddened’ the brewery had become ‘part of the current decline in the industry’ and thanked everyone who has supported the brewery over the last 14 years.
They added: “We've had a good run, with great times, great staff, great customers - and of course great beer. We're truly saddened to be sending out this statement, making us part of the current decline in the industry – but we've got to call it a day.
“Thanks to everyone who has supported us on our journey; we hope you've had some good times
