'Breast implants made me so ill I struggled to function', says S Club 7's Hannah Spearritt

S Club 7's Hannah Spearritt has discussed her battle with breast implant illness ahead of her documentary airing this evening, Thursday 13 October. Hannah had her breasts enlarged in 2013, sparking her health to “rapidly deteriorate” and leaving her unable to breast feed her children.The singer and actress suffered symptoms such as hair loss, blurred vision, brain fog, night sweats and severe panic attacks - leading to her to visit eight different specialists in a bid to find out what was wrong with her.
It took Hannah around two and a half years before a specialist finally linked her symptoms to her implants, noting that many women who have similar issues have gone on to feel better once they were removed. “Getting them taken out was the best decision of my life,” Hannah told OK! magazine.
“I was struggling to function as a human being on a day-to-day basis, and I think any other person would feel the same way once they had their implants taken out.” Explaining her reasons for wanting to go under the knife, Hannah admitted that it was “industry related”. She said: “I think it was an industry related decision mainly because the seed was planted of ‘Oh this is a possibility’ quite early on into the days of [S Club 7] and having to do lots of photoshoots and everything being so focused on your exterior.
“After the band, I was entering the acting world which may not necessarily be as focused in that way, but I did also feel [like I still wanted to do it]. “I thought about it for a really, really long time and over that 10 years, it became very normalised.Then it just seemed like not such a big thing.” Discussing how difficult it was to get a breast implant illness diagnosis, Hannah recalled a time when she was “laughed out
