Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders committed to having female vice presidents if either of them becomes the president of the United States of America. During the latest Democratic Debate on Sunday, former Vice President Biden revealed that he plans to have a female running mate if he secures the Democratic nomination.

Much to the disappointment of activists and those who hoped to elect the first woman president, the has narrowed down to two white men in their seventies—former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders.But Biden made news at the latest CNN debate on March 15 with a new commitment to choose a woman as his vice president, if he wins the nomination.

It didn’t come as a shock that the March 15 Democratic debate was overwhelmingly focused on the coronavirus pandemic, which changed the logistics of the debate itself. The two candidates, former Vice President Joe Biden, and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, came out onstage at the event and bumped elbows, rather than shake hands, approaching podiums placed six feet apart.

Joe Biden‘s hypothetical presidency would guarantee that the United States sees its first female vice president, he said at the March 15 Democratic debate. Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders are still neck and neck in the 2020 presidential primaries, but both candidates are already looking forward to the future, when one of them could be the party nominee.
