Brea Baker has been tapped as Chief Equity Officer at social impact firm and creative house Inspire Justice.
Baker is an activist and writer with a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University. Starting at the age of 18 as a student leader and now as Chief Equity Officer at Inspire Justice, Brea has contributed to dozens of electoral and advocacy campaigns. She contributes essays on race and gender to leading publications including ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Refinery 29, and more. For her work in coalition with other activists, Brea has been recognized as a 2017 Glamour Woman of the Year and 2019 i-D Up and Rising. Her book, Rooted: The American Legacy of Land Theft & The Modern Movement for Black Land Ownership, will be published by One World (an imprint of Penguin Random House).

Doctor Sleep‘s poor box office figures have ultimately ended Mike Flanagan’s hopes of releasing a second film based on The Shining, according to the director.Reports of a follow-up movie were reported back in November 2019, barely a week after the release of Doctor Sleep.The film was set to focus on the character of Dick Hallorann, played by Scatman Crothers in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 Stephen King adaptation of The Shining, and Carl Lumbly in Doctor Sleep.“We were so close,” Flanagan tweeted. “I’ll always regret this didn’t happen.”In the comments section, Flanagan added that the film was cancelled because of Doctor Sleep’s box office performance.

The new one-hour program, “A Roseanne Comedy Special,” is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2023. “Roseanne is a comedy icon whose humor connects with the American audience like no other. Her ability to channel the challenges of everyday people and find the humor in it all has earned her the passionate following of millions of dedicated fans,” said Jason Klarman, president of Fox Nation, in a statement. “We are thrilled to add her comedy special exclusively to the Fox Nation catalog.”
