CCTV footage captured two thugs prowling outside a Scots property before stealing a 14-year-old boy's £5000 scooter.
The thieves struck just after 2am on November 16 and stole young Kameron Kerr's electric moped from a shed in the garden of his family home at Stone Crescent in Midlothian, reports Edinburgh Live.
The video shows the pair creeping around the garden, looking for items, before they target the shed and break the lock. Inside they discovered Kameron’s new Talaria Black 2022 his parents had bought for his Christmas.
One of the thieves is seen to hold open a garden gate, whilst the other pushes the scooter outside and they scarper away.
Kameron’s uncle, Gareth Wynn, explained how the youngster had been waiting patiently on his Christmas present, after asking for it for the past two years.
Gareth said: “He’s absolutely beyond gutted. He’s been asking for it two years – it’s what he really wanted.
“His dad had saved up the money and it was purchased at the end of October. He was going to get it as a Christmas present and his birthday is just before, so I think it was for both really.
“It never even had a mile on it. He was so excited to have it but it was being kept in the shed.
“I think they (the thieves) must have seen my sister’s social media post and that’s how they knew to break into the shed.
“A lot of people have been getting in touch to say it’s happened to them. It’s all going up, gangs of them are doing it. It’s really shocking.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 7.10am on 16 November, 2022, police received a report of a theft of a bike from Stone Crescent, Mayfield.
"Enquiries are ongoing.”
