It’s the first song to come out under Strings’ new deal with Reprise Records, after a long run with Rounder. The music video portrays the two collaborators and band members recording their parts individually, although a framing device has Strings getting on a bus — presumably Nelson’s — that is emitting a prolific amount of smoke by the time he exits at the end. Strings, a young neo-bluegrass picker who now sells out shows across the country, is seen with a joint hanging out of his mouth as he pulls off one of the acoustic solos he’s famous for, while wearing a shirt that rhymes “doobie” with “Scooby.” Nelson is not so demonstrative in his choice of cannabis, having reportedly given up smoking for edibles and other lung-protecting variations some years back.

The initiative will serve as a curated collection of films that “exists to discover and support the next generation of great filmmakers at the inception of their career, and to give established talents room to do something smaller, more intimate, or challenging outside of the usual box of independent filmmaking,” XYZ said in a statement. The slate will launch in Cannes with Directors’ Fortnight selection “In Flames,” a Pakistani-Canadian horror film directed by Zarrar Kahn and executive produced by Shant Joshi. As revealed by Variety, XYZ had boarded the title last year. In the Karachi-set film, after the death of the family patriarch, a mother and daughter’s precarious existence is ripped apart by figures from their past – both real and phantasmal. They must find strength in each other if they are to survive the malevolent forces that threaten to engulf them.

Ethan Shanfeld Mac DeMarco is hitting the road with his road trip instrumental album “Five Easy Hot Dogs.” The indie singer-songwriter will perform one night in Los Angeles and three nights in New York, Paris and London in support of the record, which he released in January. DeMarco will be accompanied by a full band, playing an “intimate” set of “Five Easy Hot Dogs” in its entirety alongside rearranged versions of songs from across his discography. “Hello, Mac D here. In July we are bringing ‘Five Easy Hot Dogs’ to the stage. Should be nice, should be different, hopefully, it will be special. Hope to see you there,” he said in a statement.

Public Image Ltd have announced their first new album in eight years and an accompanying UK tour for later in the year.The album, titled ‘End Of World’, is set for release on August 11 and is dedicated to frontman John Lydon‘s late wife Nora Forster, who died last week at the age of 80. She had been living with Alzheimer’s disease for five years and Lydon had been her full-time carer.‘End Of World’ features the song ‘Hawaii’ as its closing track, which Lydon had written as a “love letter” to Forster. The band had used the song in their bid to represent Ireland at this year’s  Eurovision Song Contest, but they lost out to Dublin quarter Wild Youth.“Nora loved the album, she wouldn’t have wanted us to postpone it or change any of our plans,” Lydon said in a press release.

The Killers and Foo Fighters join Vedder as the headliners for the three-day festival, taking place Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at Doheny State Beach in Doheny Point. Haim, the Chicks and the Pretenders are the second-billed acts across the three days. Other marquee attractions in the idyllic beachside setting will include Father John Misty, the War on Drugs, Japanese Breakfast, Goose and Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

The summer series of Love Island is reportedly set to air in just a few weeks time.The most recent season of the popular ITV2 show came to an end in March, with the new series said to be returning to screens on 5 June. New host Maya Jama will be returning to the show by popular demand after she replaced Laura Whitmore, who stepped down from her hosting duties last year. Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International S Club 7 member Paul Cattermole has died just months after the British pop band announced its fall reunion tour. He was 46. “It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole,” reads a statement published by the BBC, attributed to Cattermole’s family and the band. The singer was found on April 6 at his home in Dorset. He was declared dead later in the afternoon. The BBC reports that a cause of death is currently unknown. “Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time,” reads the statement.
