An 11-year-old boy was found driving a BMW SUV towing a suspected stolen caravan along the M1 motorway after being pulled over by police.
Police had been called at 3.30pm on Thursday to reports that a caravan had been stolen from a holiday site near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, by someone driving the black luxury vehicle. The BMW X5, which was also using fake number plates, was tracked down as it headed South on the A1.
The car was stopped just 45 minutes later after it left the A1 at Hook Moor Interchange near Garforth and went onto the M1, with offices finding the boy behind the wheel.

North Yorkshire Police said he was questioned and has since been released on conditional police bail for further enquiries. A spokesperson said: "Thanks to the quick work of our skilled roads policing officers, our control room and intelligence team working in the background, the rightful owners have been updated that their caravan had been found.
"No-one was injured during the incident."
The police are now advising all caravan owners to make sure their vehicles have the latest security measures to prevent thefts. This includes having CCTV cameras watching over motorhomes and locking gates that lead to driveways and garages where they are kept.
