Puddings, mince pies to yule logs and roulades come as standard but there's so much more out there and if you're a real foodie you may be getting fed up with the familiarity of it all. Besides, the festive season isn't just one day so you'll want a variety of treats to eat and serve at get-togethers while you relax with your closest friends and family.

It is a boozy and tasty Eggnog Panna Cotta and a perfect indulgent way to end a festive meal with family and friends. Want it to be an uber-luxurious pud? Why not try it with a dollop of pouring cream on top? Eggnog Panna Cotta with Boozy Mulled Figs Ingredients 6 sheets leaf gelatine 800ml double cream 250ml whole milk 150ml golden rum 3 cinnamon sticks 1 vanilla pod, split lengthways 300g caster sugar Whole nutmeg, to grate 250ml mulled wine Zest of 1 orange 4 figs, quartered Edible gold leaf (optional) Method Soak the gelatine in cold water until soft.
In a pan, heat the cream, milk, rum, cinnamon, vanilla pod and 225g of the sugar, stirring, until the mixture comes to the boil. Remove from heat. ■ Lift the gelatine out of the water, squeeze out any excess liquid, and stir into the hot cream mixture to dissolve.
Leave to cool and infuse. ■ Stir the cream mixture, then strain and divide between 8 glasses or ramekins and grate nutmeg generously over each. Chill for 4 hours until set.
