Bindi Irwin opened up on her decade-long struggle with endometriosis to help tackle the stigma around the condition. The Australian TV star and daughter of late wildlife expert Steve Irwin, said she has undergone surgery after suffering from “insurmountable fatigue, pain and nausea” for 10 years.
Endometriosis is a condition that affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth in the UK.
Symptoms of the condition can often be debilitating, and as a result have a significant impact on a person's life and mental health. Those who suffer from endometriosis can experience severe pain, especially during menstrual periods, while fertility problems also may develop for others.

Sharing a picture of herself from her hospital bed, the 24-year-old debated whether or not she wanted to share information surrounding her health publicly, but decided she felt responsible to share her story to help other women who may need it.
In the Instagram post, she wrote: “For 10yrs I’ve struggled with insurmountable fatigue, pain and nausea. Trying to remain a positive person and hide the pain has been a very long road.
“These last 10yrs have included many tests, doctors visits, scans, etc. A doctor told me it was simply something you deal with as a woman and I gave up entirely, trying to function through the pain.
“I didn’t find answers until a friend @lesliemosier helped set me on a path of regaining my life. I decided to undergo surgery for endometriosis.”
