Famed Beatles photographer Astrid Kirchherr has died, aged 81.
Kirchherr was known for taking the first ever snap of the then-quintet in her native Hamburg, Germany, in the early 1960s, when the group was still unknown.
She became a constant companion of original members Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Pete Best, and Stuart Sutcliffe, to whom she became engaged, prior to the bassist’s death from a brain hemorrhage in 1962.
