Viewers of BBC's Winterwatch have furiously slammed the show for being 'sickening' after the latest episode showed footage of a dead animal.
The episode which viewers branded as 'animal cruelty' saw BBC presenters Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan set up an infra-red camera which captured a dead deer being eaten.
The pair set up the cameras at the RSPB Arne nature reserve in an attempt to capture footage of night animals feeding. While the camera successfully captured some movement from the animals, viewers quickly flocked to social media to argue that the footage was 'animal cruelty' as dead animals were shown during the 'sickening' clips.
During the episode, the presenters showed audiences a video they'd managed to capture of the nocturnal wildlife in Dorset on the "Carcass Cam." The camera was trained on the body of a dead deer, and audiences watched as a fox came to gnaw on it. Michaela narrated the video, saying: "Then at night, visited by a fox.
This is exactly what we’d expect to come to this carcass and I’m sure over the next few days we’ll be getting more foxes." She continued: "It looks nervous but remember, this is pitch black.

It gets its confidence, sniffs around a bit and takes a massive mouthful, and runs away. "I think we’re going to get a lot of action on that camera, I feel very positive about it." Debating the footage from the show on X, formerly known as Twitter, fans questioned whether the clip was acceptable.
One user wrote: "Why on earth would they show that on TV.
