BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Adam Thomas has broken his silence after being booted off the popular dance competition on Sunday night, leaving fans fuming that the 'wrong person went home'. The star found himself in a dance-off with Angela Rippon and her pro dance partner Kai Widdrington. In his first chat since his exit from the BBC show on the spin-off series It Takes Two, Adam opened up about the judges' decision to send him home.
For the second week running, Adam was in the dreaded dance-off, having been saved the previous week when Zara McDermott was axed. However, this weekend the former Emmerdale actor was eliminated from the contest alongside his dance partner Luba Mushtuk, following a dance-off with Angela and Kai. Both pairs, who were at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night, had to perform their routines once more.
Angela, 79, and Kai danced their Waltz to Fascination by Nat King Cole, while Adam and Luba performed their Rumba to Dancing On My Own by Callum Scott, hoping to win over the judges. However, the judges decided to send Adam and Luba home, and on Monday night he spoke about his departure for the first time. Adam addressed the disappointment of losing to Angela on the show, amidst some viewer backlash.
Speaking to host Fleur East about the dance-off, Adam said: "I knew going up against Angela we'd be in trouble. She's amazing, but if anyone was going to send us home I'm happy it was Angela, she's amazing. She is so elegant and I am really happy for her." Some fans were not pleased with the decision, believing "the wrong person" had been sent home.
