The BBC has finally announced who will take over as host on the airwaves for Steve Wright's Pick of the Pops show on Radio 2 following his tragic passing earlier this year.
The iconic broadcaster, aged 69, sadly died in February following an incident which required emergency services to rush to his home in Marylebone.
Steve's passing left thousands of his listeners devastated. BBC bosses decided to let the presenter go and he was due to host his final show just weeks prior to his death, leading some speculating he died of a "broken heart" according to the Mirror.
Since his death, the BBC have been seeking out a replacement for the beloved Radio 2 show. It has meanwhile been fronted temporarily by veteran DJ Gary Davies.
The broadcasting station has now confirmed that radio legend Mark Goodier will be taking over Steve's iconic Saturday afternoon slot from July later this year.
On landing the new gig, Mark said: "It's an honour to host the iconic Pick of the Pops, although I wish it were in happier circumstances as I was friends with Steve for almost 40 years. I can't wait to reminisce with Radio 2 listeners as we revisit two years in their lives, playing some of the best records ever made."
