BBC News presenter Annita McVeigh - who was taken off air for an entire year in 2023 - has made a return to screens today, much to the delight of fans.
Annita was back on the channel on Monday afternoon after she and four other stars were removed from broadcasting in 2023 when BBC bosses decided to merge its news channels.
However, the exciting news that Annita would be returning to screens came last month - with the star even getting a promotion to chief presenter, reports the Mirror.
In celebration of her comeback, Annita shared a post on social media, which was met with a wave of support from fans.
She posted a snap of herself in the studio and wrote: "....and I'm back. In Studio C with #NewsNow until 1500GMT - so good to be bringing you the news again."
One fan replied to Annita's post saying: "So good to see you back, it's like you've never been away." Another said: "So pleased to see you back @AnnitaBBC , I have really missed you. At long last an experienced newsreader."
A third fan commented: "Congratulations on your return to BBC News. It was a travesty that you had to reapply for your position." And a fourth added: "Wonderful news Annita. Welcome back."
The Times previously reported that all women will be offered permanent roles to avoid possible legal action.
An insider revealed: "They're all litigious and the National Union of Journalists will back them. Plus, the BBC is short of presenters so there are no grounds to make them redundant. And they're all capable of doing the role. A reverse ferret is definitely the best plan."
It comes as former BBC News presenter Martine Croxall recently hinted to her fans that she'll be back on screens in 2024.
