Homes Under the Hammer presenter Martin Roberts has opened up about the time he had "less than a few hours to live" before undergoing surgery.
The BBC host has been speaking about the heart problem he faced and the failure of medics to spot the problem before it got worse.
As we previously reported, the former I'm A Celebrity contestant revealed that after he started feeling unwell, things took a turn when he was then taken to hospital, and he had a very serious scare.
Now, he's got a new lease of life and he's been recalling the traumatising experience to The Sun's TV Mag, and says he would have been dead had it happened just three weeks before.
He said: "The sack around my heart had expanded and was putting pressure on the heart. I had less than a few hours to live. I was rushed into hospital and had an emergency operation where they stabbed a tube into the sack around the heart and drew a litre and a half of fluid.
"Had I not been in the right place… Three weeks earlier I was on the road in a transit van and if it had happened then, I would be dead."
Martin said he underwent tests in April 2022 which showed his blood pressure had plummeted and was half the rate of a healthy person, reports Birmingham Live.
His liver and kidneys had also dropped to 30 per cent of what they should be.
He appeared on Good Morning Britain last year to highlight some of the symptoms he'd been experiencing before he was rushed to hospital, as he said he felt "a real tightness in my chest and difficulty breathing".
He added: "I am aware of the signs of a heart attack, which is those things but with tingling and things. So, like a bloke I thought I'll just make it through the week."|

But some hardcore “Vanderpump Rules” fans are skeptical about whether the whole thing is authentic. “They needed something to get shaken up, to get people’s interest back,” podcaster Lara Schoenhals told Insider, adding that it’s “suspicious” that this happened when viewership of the show was on the decline. Hollie Bohorquez, host of the “Vanderpump Rules Party” podcast, told the outlet, “I personally feel like they were mapping this out.” As evidence, she noted the oddity of cast members giving podcast interviews teasing “explosive” developments ahead. She also uncovered a filming permit in front of a cast member’s building after the season had already wrapped.“So before Scandoval even broke, they had the filming permits in place to record with when cameras went back,” she said. Bravo has previously stated that the season has not been re-edited to reflect the discovery of the affair. Sarah Cee, co-host of “Vanderpump Rules Party” podcast, said that the show’s producers “had to have known or had very strong inklings,” because the affair seems like too seamless of a ready-made subplot in the season.
