Grange Hill actor Stuart Organ has sadly passed away at the age of 72.
The actor's representatives confirmed his passing on Friday, 23 February. Stuart was famed for his portrayal of PE teacher Peter Robson in Grange Hill. He was also known for playing Kevin Cross in Brookside and appeared in Doctor Who story Dragonfire as Bazin, alongside Sylvester McCoy.
He also featured in medical dramas Casualty and Holby City and films like Those Glory Glory Days, Present Spirits and Fork In The Road. Stuart starred in a number of theatre productions too, and also completed regular voice work, including lip-synching and dubbing video games, such as Star Wars: The Old Republic. After news broke of Stuart's death, numerous fans paid tribute to the late star on social media.
One fan said: "Can't believe it, that fella helped shape my childhood. Legend." "He was fantastic," another commented under a post about Stuart's passing. Somebody else wrote: "RIP Stuart," with a heart emoji.
Stuart's acting career started at Leeds Playhouse in 1975 with a performance in Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead. He also performed in Sweeney Todd at Queens Theatre Hornchurch. He was arguably best known for his role in Grange Hill however, with the soap having helped launch the careers of many actors.
Grand Hill ran from 1978 until 2008, with the likes of EastEnders' Todd Carty and Birds of a Feather star Lee MacDonald appearing on it. Stuart appeared on Grange Hill for 15 years in total. He quit in 2003, when it was revealed that production was moving to Liverpool.
