Viewers of the new Gladiators series were left asking 'what's going on' as Mark Clattenburg's early appearance caused a major distraction. There was a bit of discourse early into episode three as the rebooted 90s gameshow returned to screens on Saturday night (January 27).
As ever the show, hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney, kicked off with the classic 'Duel' which sees each contender go head to head with a gladiator in a 30-second bout. The aim is for one to knock their opponent off their podium using just their giant pugil stick. If they succeed, the contenders get the maximum 10 points with five points offered for staying on the podium.
The game saw the return of Viper who took on Ashley, a sales lead for a soft drinks company in London. But the Gladiator let the excitement - not that he showed it - get the better of him and lunged for a jab before the game officially began.
