Jamie Borthwick has seemingly confirmed his EastEnders exit as his character Jay Brown continues to spiral following the death of wife Lola Pearce. Actor Jamie, 29, has been at the centre of some of this year's biggest storylines on the BBC One soap, including Lola's heartbreaking brain tumour storyline, and it appears he may be set to leave his role as Jay. According to the Mirror, Jamie shared a cryptic post on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday evening, which appeared to confirm Jay's fate.
He allegedly posted a snap of himself in his younger years and paid tribute to his character. He took to Instagram in a now deleted post on his story where he shared a young photo of himself and paid tribute to his character. "RIP Jay, gonna miss you lad.
We had a laugh didn't we," the soap star, who has played Jay since 2006, reportedly wrote. He has since deleted the post. In Wednesday evening's episode, Jay could be seen speeding off in a car after telling Gina Knight he wanted to go to Margate - the last place he visited with Lola - as he continued to struggle with his grief.
The car dealer, who has been taking drugs to cope with the loss of his wife, was then involved in an accident, with two police officers arriving at The Queen Vic to inform Billy and Ben Mitchell about what had gone on. With Lola still listed as Jay's next of kin and the duo not actually being relatives of Jay's, it proved difficult for Billy and Ben to get the police to share any information about Jay's crash. However, Billy and wife Honey eventually managed to track him down at Walford General, where it was revealed he was in a coma after suffering near-fatal injuries.
