BBC EastEnders' Max Bowden's love life from co-star split to Love Island 'fling'

EastEnders star Max Bowden, who plays Ben Mitchell, has had quite the love life off-screen with links to a co-star and Love Island contestant. Max, 28, has played the role of Ben on EastEnders since 2019 but will soon be waving goodbye to Albert Square as BBC confirmed his departure. His final scenes are thought to air in the coming weeks with his departure this year reportedly leaving the show's bosses unsure whether to keep the character of Ben Mitchell in the soap at all.
During his four years on the soap, we've seen the actor be at the heart of some major storylines including the heartbreaking loss of Lola Pearce (played by Danielle Harold) with their daughter Lexi. The 28 year old who hails from Woking, Surrey became the talk of the town after his split from his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Roisin Buckle, who is now the mother of his child.
But that's not all - he's also rumoured to have had a fling with a famous Love Island star. Co-star romance The showbiz world was surprised when Max and his EastEnders co-star Shona McGarty, who plays Whitney Dean, made their relationship Instagram official.
This came after Max ended his relationship with Roisin. Rumours started swirling when Max was spotted leaving Shona's posh house in Welwyn Garden City in May, after what seemed like a sleepover.
Shona had called off her engagement with electrician Ryan Harris earlier in January. In June, Shona and Max were seen giggling and being affectionate at the Soap Awards, adding more fuel to the gossip about their relationship.
