Why Eva Longoria Is Having a ‘Difficult’ Time Finding Next Movie to Direct Following ‘Flamin’ Hot’ Success

Marc Malkin Senior Film Awards, Events & Lifestyle Editor Eva Longoria jokes that she’s taking an extended vacation to get some rest after her whirlwind promotion of “Flamin’ Hot,” her feature film directorial debut. “I am going to sleep for about three months,” Longoria told me Thursday morning. “When I come up for air, I hopefully will know what I’m doing next.” Joking aside, she said, “I will tell you it’s been very difficult. I’ve been sent many scripts already. I’ve been reading so much, but there’s nothing so far that has sparked in me the intense passion that I had for telling this particular story. “I was asking my agent, ‘Do I have to feel this way about every story I want to direct? Because I haven’t felt it yet,'” Longoria continued. “He said that should be the bar.”

Venus and Serena Williams’ Father Richard Retraces His Family’s Journey in Sheffield Doc ‘On the Line’: Watch Trailer (EXCLUSIVE)

Naman Ramachandran Fremantle has unveiled a trailer for documentary feature “On the Line: The Richard Williams Story,” which will have its U.K. premiere at Sheffield DocFest. In the film, which premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Festival, the father of Venus Williams and Serena Williams retraces his family’s meteoric journey in his own words. Featuring never-before-seen archive material and new, in-depth, intimate interviews, the film tells the story of one man’s fight against racism, suppression and violence to raise two of the greatest tennis champions in history. Richard Williams takes the audience from his childhood in poverty-stricken Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was raised by his cotton-picking mother, to the tennis courts of Compton. As the film charts the Williams’ ascent to the tennis world stage, Richard provides insights into family life and also shines a light on unconscious bias and repression of Black people.

New BBC Chair Must Have ‘Demonstrable Experience,’ Hiring Process Must be ‘Transparent’ Director General Tim Davie Says

Naman Ramachandran BBC director general Tim Davie has called for a “transparent” hiring process for the next chair of the corporation. The previous BBC chair Richard Sharp resigned over his role in a 2020 loan to then U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Elan Closs Stephens has been appointed temporary acting chair. Davie appeared before a U.K. Culture Media and Sport Committee parliamentary inquiry on the workings of the BBC on Tuesday and was asked what qualities and skills BBC needs for the new chair. “This is an incredibly precious institution, globally admired complex, right in the heart of the public eye. It needs a world class chair and we need an outstanding candidate to do that,” Davie told the committee.

Richard Curtis and Emma Freud to cook up a Suffolk feast at Latitude

Given that the Latitude festival is all about bringing together music with comedy and literature and other artforms, no surprises really that comedy writer Richard Curtis and his broadcaster wife Emma Freud are on the line-up this year, especially as they live near the festival’s site in Suffolk.Though don’t be expecting them to be on stage talking about their comedy and media careers, because – according to the BBC – they’ve been booked to cook some food. Because, you know, at music festivals these days, it’s only really the food that matters.“Suffolk is the warmest and most magical county in Britain, with massive skies, stunning beaches, and a community that glows with kindness”, says Freud, “and its culinary wonders are stunning”.“In the early 1930s”, she goes on, “many members of my German Jewish family arrived in Suffolk and were made to feel welcome.

‘The Lesson’ Review: Richard E. Grant Steals The Show In A Slow-Burn Tale Of Literary Larceny – Tribeca Film Festival

Though it doesn’t exactly have the same warm, melancholic charm, Alice Troughton’s elegant literary thriller The Lesson could give star Richard E. Grant the kind of late-career bump that last year’s Living afforded Bill Nighy. An Oscar nom might be a little fanciful at this stage, but a Bafta shot is a no-brainer, with Grant on top form as a mercurial, narcissistic British author. Co-star Julie Delpy might also find new offers coming in, showing a stiletto-sharp new side to herself as his enigmatic wife.

UK MPs React To Boris Johnson’s Shock Resignation From Parliament – ‘Straight Out Of Trump Playbook’

The reaction to Boris Johnson’s abrupt exit from the UK Parliament where he was previously Prime Minister has been as polarised as you would expect of a politician who, according to his allies remained a unique election-winner and singlehandedly led the nation through Brexit and the Covid pandemic but, to his critics, signified deceit, corruption and all that is wrong with modern politics.

Paul Walter Hauser Gets Frank About the Challenges of ‘Black Bird,’ Getting Sober and Why He Thought He Peaked with ‘Richard Jewell’

Jenelle Riley Deputy Awards and Features Editor Paul Walter Hauser has made hamburgers the latest red carpet accessory. The actor has found himself making the rounds lately thanks to his stunning turn as serial killer Larry Hall in Apple TV Plus’ limited series “Black Bird,” a role that has already netted him a SAG Award nomination and wins from the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards. After Jamie Lee Curtis asked him to bring her a burger to the next event, Hauser showed up at the Critics Choice Awards with a patty – only to learn Curtis couldn’t attend due to COVID. He later proposed to her with a smashburger at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards and brought 20 burgers to the SAG Awards, where he handed them out to the likes of Adam Sandler. When Hauser’s name was called amongst the nominees in his category, he perfectly timed a blissful bite on camera. So when Hauser joined us as a guest on this week’s episode of the Variety Awards Circuit podcast, we wanted to get his opinion on one of our favorite hamburgers in town, from the Corner Deli – which is located inside a gas station next to our offices. Listen below for his full review.
