A 2017 report produced by the government found that the benefits of adult education were innumerable; ranging from fostering a greater sense of community as classes give learners the opportunity to socialise with like-minded individuals, to an increase in life satisfaction and general wellbeing. It can even provide a positive effect beyond the individual; the study found that the education of adults positively influences the educational achievement of their children and their children’s health. According to the report, adults who participate in learning themselves are more likely to engage in their children’s education, improving outcomes.
