Jackass is set to return with a new TV series at Paramount+.The news was confirmed by Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish during an earnings call, according to Variety.“Based off the success of Jackass Forever, we’re working with the creators to continue the partnership with a new series, bringing even more ridiculous antics straight to Paramount+,” Bakish said yesterday (May 3).No further details on returning cast members or potential stunts have been revealed yet, but the project would be hosted exclusively by Paramount+.Next month, Jackass 4.5 will be released on Netflix, featuring unseen footage from Jackass Forever.Like previous film extensions 2.5 and 3.5, Jackass 4.5 will feature behind-the-scenes footage, outtakes, cast interviews and never-before-seen stunts.Johnny Knoxville has previously said he’s retiring from big stunts – a decision influenced by medical advice from his doctor.Speaking to NME, Knoxville said: “I knew going into this movie that this was going to be the last time I was going to do big stunts because I’ve got kids and I’ve had so many injuries. I feel like I could go out good in this film by being my last with big stunts.

Given all the mortal wounds, broken bones, bruises, and old aging, there had been a twelve-year gap between “Jackass 3D” and the fourth “Jackass” film. However, the crew of stuntmen pranksters made their glorious return earlier this year alongside new additions to the roster for “Jackass Forever.” Many assumed the introduction of fresh-faced newbies was a sign that a series was eventually going to go forward and it looks like that is indeed the case.

Just when fans thought they’d seen the last of Johnny Knoxville and his band of merry pranksters, Netflix is announcing the arrival of yet another installment in the “Jackass” pantheon.

Earlier this year we saw Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, Preston Lacy, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Ehren McGhehey, and other new “Jackass” members return for the fourth installment, “Jackass Forever.” With every film installment, there is plenty of extra footage or various comedic bits that don’t make the theatrical cut, and there is normally a lot of good stuff left on the cutting room floor that ends up being put into a follow-up feature-length project.

UPDATED, 8 AM: Jackass co-creator Bam Margera has dropped his lawsuit over his firing from the franchise’s Jackass Forever film. In court documents filed Wednesday, April 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Margera asks a judge that his case, alleging that he was wrongly fired by Paramount Pictures, be dismissed “with prejudice,” which means it cannot be re-filed. The court papers do not reveal whether Margera reached a settlement or why he decided to drop the case. Also named in the suit were MTV, Jeffrey Tremaine, Johnny Knoxville, Spike Jonze, Dickhouse Entertainment, Gorilla Flicks, among others. Margera had sought millions of dollars in damages.
