Ava DuVernay addresses Golden Globes' lack of diversity

Late-night hosts like Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert sounded off on the 2021 Golden Globes’ diversity controversy one day after the award show aired.  During this year’s presentation, the stars took a back seat as the virtual show highlighted the ongoing diversity problem within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which votes for the awards.

Golden Globes were virtual this year, doesn’t mean that there wasn’t a number of fashion-forward looks thanks to the celebrities “in attendance. ” Cynthia Erivo, who was nominated last year as both a singer and actress for her role in Harriet, is the perfect example.

Kaley Cuoco took her Golden Globes loss on the chin by sharing a good-humoured reaction photo on Instagram. The Big Bang Theory star was up for two awards for her performance in HBO series The Flight Attendant, including Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.

On Sunday, during her acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award, Jane Fonda, who has always been an activist, ally and advocate to marginalized voices, talked about how she has seen “a lot of diversity” in her lifetime and that she has been challenged to understand some of the people she has met. It was one of those moments in which the next part could be really profound or take a turn for the worse. Luckily, it’s Jane Fonda so we know where it’s headed.
