Despite the box office and critical disappointment of “Dear Evan Hansen,” Hollywood is still really excited about the possibilities of bringing famous Broadway musicals to the big screen. This year alone, we’ve had the aforementioned “Dear Evan Hansen,” “In the Heights,” and in December, “West Side Story.” And one of the biggest musicals of all time, “Wicked,” is now bringing in two incredibly talented singers to bring that show to life in film.

Kenneth Branagh’s autobiographical drama Belfast and Philip Barantini’s single-take title Boiling Point both lead nominations for this year’s British Independent Film Awards with 11 nods a piece.

The Critics Choice Association is pushing to expand its broadcast and cable audience for the upcoming Critics Choice Awards. TBS has teamed with The CW Network to simulcast the 27th annual Critics Choice Awards, which will air live on the CW on Sunday, January 9 at 7-10 PM ET (delayed PT).

For those who may have speculated that the Critics Choice Association will move their long planned Critics Choice Awards 2022 date of Sunday January 9 after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced on Friday their intention to present their 79th Golden Globe Awards on the same night, well, think again.

“This is a petty and vindictive move. It is actually an insult to the industry,” said Critics Choice Awards President Joey Berlin of the Hollywood Foreign Press’s rescheduled January 9 date for its show. That happens to be the same night of the annual Critics Choice event which, unlike the Globes this year, will be telecast (on the CW).
